Date Fruit Introduction
Iranian Dates are arguably one of the most delicious fruits worldwide. Rarely do we find a foodstuff that is both tasty and good for us – and this is exactly why dates are so popular.
Not only are dates high in a variety of different nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibres which our bodies will thank us for, but they’re also sticky, sweet and delicious. Preheat your oven to 200ºC / Gas mark 6.
Grease and flour your baking tin.
In a large bowl, combine the dates, brown sugar, margarine and boiling water. Leave to stand for 15 minutes. Stir in the self-rising flour, bicarbonate of soda and vanilla extract. Pour the batter into your tin. Bake in a preheated oven for 45 minutes. Allow to cool before serving – and enjoy!
